Fylde takes its name from the flat green plain stretching from the west coast to the foothills of the Pennines.
It covers a wide area of Lancashire between the rivers Ribble and Wyre. It also includes the villages in the area known as "over Wyre" that lie between the River Wyre and the coast.
It stretches inland to Preston and Lancaster, including places such as Blackpool, Fleetwood, Thornton Cleveleys, Poulton le Fylde, Lytham St Annes, Kirkham and Garstang.
